The one thing I love about being in China is that everything is way cheaper. I can get a new nice sweater with 30RMB (approximately 3 Euro) and if I go to Walmart with 500 RMB (50 Euro), my cart will be overflowing with grocery stuff. Also, dinning out is cheap, way cheaper than cooking at home.
I know a couple who are both Europeans. They came here (China) last year to work and they decided to stay for another 5 years or so even though the standard of living in China cannot compete with that of their country. The woman said “Why would I want to fight so hard for money in Europe when I can have it easily here in China?” True. The normal trend is that Westerners from first world countries are earning more but are spending less in China. This is the main reason why they like it here. The second is that it is way more convenient for them to travel to those wonderful tropical countries like the Philippines (hehe), Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand.
Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong are the best places to live in China. I can understand foreigners to want to stay in these places for the rest of their lives because the standard of living in these cities is the highest in this country.
As for us, we still would like to continue to work and live abroad for another two years but not here in China.
