We recently watched a movie entitled “Lost in Beijing”. It was Marcus who found it in the DVD shop. It’s a Chinese movie that has raised controversy and received a lot of positive criticism from film critics.
This movie is a hot item because it’s being banned by the government and I can imagine why. But if you want to read the whole detail on why it was banned, you may read it here.
Anyway, the movie is about two couples, one rich and the other poor, and their life in modern day China. I don’t consider myself a movie critic but I really do think that the movie is award winning. Why? Because the story is very realistic. It reflects so much of China, how the country is today, how its citizen thinks, their culture, their beliefs, and a lot more. Nothing was romanticized which is good because this gives the movie its character. The casting and acting were good too. Actors were natural in their roles.
I have to say that this is yet the best Chinese movie I’ve seen so far.

1Looks like I will be putting this one in my Netflix queue. I like movies that aren’t over glamorized or over done with Hollywood wizardry. Sounds good and thanks for the recommendation.
